Street football is a means of getting a large group of young people to exercise in a low-threshold, attractive way. In cooperation with the KNVB we developed a campaign to make street football more popular. Children between 8 and 15 years old had to be enthusiastic and motivated to play on the streets. In addition, the KNVB wanted to organize a unique national event that would attract at least 1,000 young footballers.
Solution
Young footballers were inspired and challenged to play football on the streets through an off and online approach. Under the guise of: “Together in the center of attention” we showed that street football belongs to everyone. Videos were produced for Facebook and Instagram in which the street football ambassadors explained various tricks, street football games and answered questions.
The ambassadors have been figureheads of street football for a number of years. The target audience could meet their heroes during the summer months. The ambassadors were present during the weekly regional tournaments and visited the finals with the four of them. With their presence and their panna and freestyle shows they inspired the new generation of street football heroes.
The national street football event was renamed in a street football festival, under the name: “KNVB Steet football Games 2016”. The promotion of the event, was continued by the ambassadors. In addition, a great rap song was produced especially about street football! Dr. WOOOW! organized the festival on June 25th , which included panna and freestyle competitions and shows in the field of dance and freerunning.
